So, while Congress tackles important issues like “Shark Conservation” and “Federal Ocean Acidification”, the Price of Oil has reached a new high….$147/barrel. This after only minutes of trading and reaction to “Saber Rattling” by one of the largest exporters of oil, Iran.

So now Americans are being held hostage not only by Saudi Arabia, but Iran. Is there any doubt that both Saudi Arabia and Iran known they manipulate our economy with mere words and talk of military action? How long do we as citizens stand by and allow our elected representatives to be a willing part of this economic chess game?

It’s obvious to DrillNow.net, that we are pawns in a game where Kings win.

DrillNow.net was established on May 21, 2008 so that citizens could contact their representatives about the nation’s substandard energy policy. Since that time, visitors to this site (YOU) have voiced approval for domestic oil exploration through letters to elected representatives and signatures on the petition. So, what has Congress been doing in response to your concerns? Here’s a taste of active legislation Congress is working to make law….you know….to show they care:

Notice that none include provisions to release YOU from dependence on foreign oil, unless you fuel your car with corn, wind, plant material, or sunlight.

Is Congress just waiting you out? Does Congress believe that you will become accustomed to paying $4.00/gallon today, as you agreed to pay $2.50/gallon one year ago? Since history always repeats itself, how will you feel when fuel costs reach $7.00/gallon this time next year? Are you willing to exchange your mortgage payment will your monthly gas bill?

This Will happen if Congress does not enact legislation to allow Domestic Oil Exploration Off-Shore and in ANWR. Don’t let Congress fool you. They each have a BlackBerry and could remove the moratorium on domestic drilling in 4 hours.

ANWR drilling benefits Americans

One of the United States' most pressing political issues over the past 40 years has been the question of whether or not to drill for oil in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refugem known as ANWR. Action has never been taken by the U.S. government to approve drilling because of presidential vetoes, Senate filibusters and allegiance to environmental lobbies. Our economy has reached a breaking point, and it has never made more sense to further explore this option as a means to alleviating our energy crisis in the United States.

Current oil technology allows for an outstanding utilization of land, with minimal impact on the environment (something proponents could not claim 15 years ago). In fact, the area in question (known as the "10-02" area) only makes up 8 percent of the entire refuge. Within that, it's estimated that only around 2,000 out of 1.5 billion acres would be necessary to access the underground reserves, which, by the way, have been cited as the largest such oil reserves in North America. For those who are not good with numbers, we're talking about an area about the size of JFK Airport.

Drill Now or Pay Later

Unbelievable. ABC news aired a story that chronicled the financial hardships of three American families dealing with $3.69/gallon gas. A single mom is skipping breakfast to pay the gas bill, an independent truck driver’s profits are reduced to near zero and another parent is unable to pay her bills because the cost of her work commute is more than her mortgage payment. Immediately following the story ABC ran another segment that told Americans to reduce their consumption of beef because the increased demand for cattle caused dangerous methane levels that increased global warming.

What are your priorities? Reducing fuel costs, eating breakfast, making a profit, paying your mortgage, OR reducing the methane production of cows? Easy answer... for most of us. ABC did get one thing right - without realizing it; the answer to our nation’s rising fuel costs is in our own backyard, or our pasturelands.
